What is a brow lift?

A brow lift, or forehead lift, is a surgical procedure that repositions sagging brows to their natural position and smooths out forehead wrinkles and frown lines. With age, these changes can give the face a tired or tense appearance.

Dr. César López offers two main techniques based on each patient's needs: the traditional coronal brow lift, ideal for advanced skin laxity, and the endoscopic brow lift, a less invasive option with minimal scarring. Both approaches are designed to rejuvenate the upper face while preserving natural facial expression.

The procedure lasts approximately 1 hour, is performed under local anesthesia with sedation, and does not require hospitalization. Initial recovery takes about 7 to 10 days, and final results are visible within 3 months.

Requirements: Lab tests and cardiac evaluation for patients over 50.

Postoperative care:
Avoid physical strain for 2 weeks, consider LED therapy, and protect the treated area from sun exposure.

Is this procedure right for you?

Brow lift is indicated for patients who show ptosis (drooping) of the eyebrow complex, visible asymmetry, or chronic twitch patterns in the forehead area.

You can be a good candidate if

  • You have brow ptosis or noticeable asymmetry in your gaze.
  • You have pronounced frown lines between the eyebrows or horizontal forehead lines.
  • You notice a heavier, more closed appearance in the upper eyelids.
  • You are in good overall health and have realistic expectations.
  • Your skin elasticity allows for a natural correction without over-tightening.
  • This procedure is not recommended if

    • You have uncontrolled health conditions, such as cardiovascular disease or diabetes.
    • You smoke and are unable to stop during the recovery period.
    • You expect “perfect” results or radical changes that would alter your natural expression.
    • You have recently undergone another facial surgery and are still in the recovery process.

    Benefits of an eyebrow lift

Undergoing plastic surgery with Dr. César López means more than simply refining a feature: it's about restoring balance, regaining confidence, and achieving results that feel as good as they look. Each procedure is designed not only to improve specific areas of the face or body, but also to improve overall harmony, comfort and well-being.

    Structural repositioning of the eyebrows

Instead of simply pulling the skin upwards, the procedure redefines soft tissue tension vectors and repositions the brow complex in an anatomically more favorable location.

Harmonization of the upper facial thirds

By adjusting the eyebrows and forehead, brow lift improves the proportional relationship between the forehead, the eyes and the middle part of the face, key to a visually balanced face.

    Relaxation of hyperactive muscle groups

The strategic release or modification of the forehead and glabellar muscles helps reduce excessive movement and smoothes deep expression lines without affecting natural dynamics.

Natural visual elevation of the periorbital region

The repositioned eyebrow relieves the heaviness of the upper eyelids, making the eyes appear more open and defined, without the need for exaggerated arches or fixed expressions.

    02

    Surgical procedure

The brow lift is usually done under sedation or general anesthesia. Depending on the approach, the procedure lasts 1.5 to 3 hours and is carried out in an operating room of a fully certified hospital.

    03

    Early recovery

During the first few days, it is normal to experience mild swelling and manageable discomfort, which gradually subsides.

    04

    Follow-up care

Patients return to their home or hotel within 24 hours. Initial swelling and discomfort are expected to be minimal. Analgesia and cold compresses are prescribed. The sutures are removed after 7 days (or dissolve if they are internal).

    05

    Final results

The final results are stabilized; scars fade and facial contours take on their natural shape.

Is the result of the brow lift permanent?

Results typically last 7 to 10 years. While natural tissue aging continues, it does so from a much-improved baseline. The structure is restored—not frozen—allowing for a more graceful aging process.

Can a brow lift change my expression?

It should refine, not change, your expression. When properly executed, it removes signs of tension and fatigue, not your identity.

Is the endoscopic approach better than the traditional one?

Not necessarily. Endoscopic lifts offer a faster recovery, but their lifting potential is limited. The best method depends on your anatomy and your goals.

Can it be combined with other facial surgeries?

Yes, and often it should be. Facial aging is on several levels. Dr. López often combines brow lifts with blepharoplasty, facelifting, or periorbital contouring.
